The Hugo Award is named in honor of the author Hugo Gernsback. The Hugo Award, also known as the Science Fiction Achievement Award, is given annually by the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS). The award(s) are nominated by the the WSFS members and selected by popular vote. The awards are given in any year for a work that appeared in the previous year.
Awards are given most years for the best Novel, Novella, Novelette, Short Story, Related Book, Dramatic Presentation, Professional Editor, Professional Artist, Semiprozine, Fanzine, Fan Writer, Fan Artist, Campbell Award, Special Award.
