Adventure and thriller authors tend to write stories that have foreign, distant or exotic settings and involve rapidly changing plots. Their characters are usually intense and have either exaggerated physical abilities, intellect or both. There are usually many incidents of danger and violence, and often the use of ingenious solutions when all hope appears lost. This style of writing is usually a quick read and mass marketed. Many adventure novels are re-written as movies, radio plays or television dramas and, more recently, computer or console video games.
