The Rev. Edwin Abbott Abbott was born in 1838.
He was a English schoolmaster, theologian and writer of biblical and literary subjects. He is most remembered for his mathematical satire Flatland.
Education
City of London school
St. John's College, Cambridge. He received honours in the classics, mathematics and theology, and became fellow of his college.
Employment
He was a master at King Edward's School, Birmingham, and at Clifton College.
1865 - He became headmaster of the City of London School in 1865, succeeding G. F. Mortimer. He was twenty-six.
1876 - Hulsean lecturer.
1889 - Retired
