Joe Kohl has been a cartoonist and illustrator since 1973, having illustrated numerous books, magazines, advertisements, greeting cards, book covers, POP displays, billboards, brochures, tee shirts and mugs. He has illustrated children's books, self help, humor, financial and banking, psychology, golf, sports and joke books, travel guides and textbooks. His drawings are used not only to illustrate the text, but to "brighten up" books of a more serious nature.
His cartoons and illustrations have appeared worldwide and in most magazines which publish cartoons or cartoon illustrations including Reader's Digest, National Enquirer, Punch, Saturday Evening Post, New Woman, Christianity Today, Parkhurst Media, Good Housekeeping, Complete Woman, Forbes, Writer's Digest, The Artist's Magazine, Marriage Partnership, Woman's Own, Saturday Review, Penthouse, First for Women, Woman's World, Medical Economics, The Madison Avenue Handbook, Woman, Diversion, numerous medical and trade journals in both the United States and Canada, books in the 'Chicken Soup for The Soul' series, USA Weekend and others. He has produced a number of golf-related cartoons, many of which have been released as a book with Evanston Publishing Company.
Cartoons are available for licensing on calendar, mugs, tee shirts, magnets, greeting cards and for individual (black and white or color) magazine cartoon usage. Many of his favorite cartoons, which he features on his website, have been published in major periodicals. He also operates an online storefront for many of his classic tee shirts and golf shirts.

He has also written text for Hallmark and American.
