Synopsis

Domo-kun is the official mascot of NTK, Japan's government-owned public television network. He first appeared during a promotional event celebrating the 10th anniversary of NTK. Between shows, Domo-kun would appear on the screen, and thank the viewers for watching. He was so popular that NTK developed a series of stop-motion animation cartoon vignettes involving the playful monster.

NTK ratings soared and soon Domo-kun dolls, clothing, and toys appeared all over Japan, and have since begun to become very popular in the United States as well. Domo-kun cartoons can be seen in the United States on the International Channel on cable.
